LOK SATTA is a non- partisan people's movement for better governance.
LOK SATTA (People's Power) is a robust and cheerful people's movement for good government and against corruption in India. It is run democratically by the people themselves. LOK SATTA stands for rule of law and believes that people are the true masters in a democracy, and every official, however highly placed he may be, is only a servant of the people. Integrity in public life, and genuine empowerment of the people are the cornerstones of LOK SATTA's philosophy. LOK SATTA is India's largest movement for democratic reforms. Many eminent citizens, known for their experience and record of public service are associated with LOK SATTA.
LOK SATTA is dedicated to fighting against illegal use of money power in elections. In India, in five years Rs.125,000 is spent on behalf of every family by the governments. And yet, votes are purchased for a small sum at elections, and those in power plunder the people.
One out of every seven legislators in India has a criminal record against him. LOK SATTA is dedicated to end this criminalization of politics.
Elections in India have been reduced to a farce as legitimate voters are denied the vote and rigging continues unchecked. LOK SATTA movement is aimed at cleansing the electoral process.
LOK SATTA is about a better future for all
the children of India. It is to place the citizen in the centre
of Indian democracy. Nothing will ruin the country if the people
themselves will undertake its safety, and nothing can save it if
they leave their safety in any hands but their own. As Mahatma Gandhi
said, the real Swaraj (self-governance) will come, not by the acquisition
of authority by a few, but by the acquisition of the capacity by
all to resist authority when abused. Every Indian who wants better
government, fair elections, and clean public life should join LOK SATTA movement and make the struggle his own. There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time
has come. LOK SATTA movement is the idea whose time has come.
