Political parties have become autocratic. They are personalized fiefdoms of the 'leaders'. There are no internal democratic norms, nor is there any transparency in funding and accountability in actions.

A party is different from any other organisation, since it seeks political power. Therefore it should be accountable to the public. An undemocratic party cannot sustain a democratic polity.

• Membership: Membership to be open to all citizens with official membership rolls made public.
• Leadership: Leaders to be elected and not nominated
• Candidates: Candidates for elective office to be chosen democratically by members of the party.
• Funding : Transparency in funding and utilization of party funds with mandatory disclosure and independent audit.
