- We have over 30,000 central and State laws. Many of them are
relics of the colonial past. Even the sensible laws are not enforced
properly.
- Over 30 million cases are pending in law courts for decades!
If a civil suit is disposed of during the life of
a litigant (in itself a lucky occurrence!), the loser laments in
court, and the winner grieves in private! Even criminal cases take
years: Rajiv Gandhi's murderers could not be convicted for over
7 years.
The result is collapse of rule of law.
Might is right, and people approach criminal lords for rough and
ready justice.
In time, these criminals become politicians, and lord over the police.
