  • If you find on verification that your name is not included in electoral rolls, you can ask for its inclusion. Similarly, if you find that a fictitious name, or the name of someone no longer living in your village / town is included, you can ask for its deletion.

    When to apply ?

  • All such changes are possible at any time. Once the election process is on, changes are difficult to make. The last date before which changes can be made is the last date of nominations for elections. The process involves at least a week's time, and sometimes more. Therefore it is better to ensure that you are registered as a voter well before elections.

  • The following changes are possible in electoral rolls:
    • Correction of erroneous or defective entries (wrong spelling, age, sex etc.)

    • Change of polling station within the constituency
    • Change of polling station outside the constituency
    • Deletion of name on account of death or migration
  • How to include your name in Electoral Rolls ?
  • The Electoral Registration Officer or one of the designated officers is the competent authority. Usually in Hyderabad city the municipal officials are competent to include or delete names. You will have to approach the local Assistant Commissioner or other municipal officials. In all other districts, the MROs are competent to include or delete names.

  • The application must be made in duplicate in the following forms:

    Inclusion of name
    Objection to inclusion of name
    Change of any entry
    (name, spelling, age, sex, etc.)
    Change of polling station
Deletion of entry (death or migration)

  • The registration officer (MRO or municipal official) will display one copy of the application in the notice board and give notice inviting objections if any within seven days from notice. After completion of one week's notice, the registration officer (MRO or municipal official) will consider the application and objections, if any.

  • He may also enquire into facts through his officials. You should cooperate fully during the enquiry, and give accurate information. On being satisfied that the name should be included, he will order its inclusion in the electoral rolls.

  • Other appropriate orders will be passed depending on the application. If the application is rejected, the registration officer will have to record in writing the reasons for rejection. The whole process may take about 2 weeks.

  • If there is no action by the official or if there are large scale bogus votes registered, or legitimate voters' names not included, please approach the RDO or Sub-Collector in all districts or Collector, if necessary. In Hyderabad City, please approach the Deputy Commissioner or Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation.

  • If there is no proper service at any stage, please approach the local Lok Satta unit for guidance and help.
